October 1, 2019 (Eden Prairie, Minnesota) — Spare, the world leader in on-demand transportation services, today expanded on the partnership with SouthWest Transit in Eden Prairie with a new non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) service, Prime MD. The service follows the success of the SW Prime service launched earlier this year, providing improved service for passengers going to and from medical appointments in the area. Prime MD will serve as a high reliability transportation option, with elevated service quality, in order to guarantee that passengers make their appointments reliably.

While SouthWest Transit and Spare already provide on-demand transit service to the general public in the metro Minneapolis area, Prime MD will focus on those trips that are going to and from medical appointments, which may lie outside of the existing service area. Many Spare powered on-demand transit services offer rides to and from medical service centers, however Prime MD will be the company’s first ever deployment dedicated to overhauling the cities vitally important NEMT services.

“SouthWest Transit is excited to partner with Spare Labs in launching yet another innovative service,” said Matt Fyten, Director of Operations for SouthWest Transit. “Prime MD will provide a safe, affordable and reliable ride for those seeking non-emergency medical transportation.”

Beginning today, commuters will be able to call in to schedule a ride up to two weeks in advance to non-emergency medical appointments at locations around Eden Prairie, including Ridgeview clinics in Waconia, Chanhassen and Chaska.
