Vancouver, BC., December 22, 2022 — Spare today announced the release of its 2022 Global Impact Report. This is a milestone for Spare, a company with impact at its core, and with the vision of making every ride possible through their sustainable software.

“Our tech-enabled platform empowers over 200 services and empowers transit and mobility innovators, both in the public and private sectors”, share the founders, Kristoffer Vik Hansen, Josh Andrews and Alexey Indeev. “Spare’s philosophy, which rests on its open API, is that anyone can and should be able to launch an efficient, well-run transportation network with ease.”

Over several years, Spare has powered almost 5 million on-demand trips for over 100 partner organizations, covering 63 million kilometres across the world. Spare’s efforts have meant the creation of almost 8 million new social interactions and $30+ million in healthcare cost savings.

The 2022 Impact Report underscores Spare's dedication to building and maturing its programs and initiatives, powered by and in service to the vision, passion and expectations of its customers, stockholders, employees and other stakeholders.

Top highlights across Spare’s Impact Strategy:

  • The avoidance of over 1,300 tonnes of CO2 equivalent for Spare customers, which equates to removing 280 cars off the road, or planting 21,000 trees.

  • 300,000 accessible trips being powered by Spare meaning accessibility needs such as  wheelchair accessibility, assisted boarding, and accompanying adults are met.

  • Over 1 in 3 riders report feeling less lonely after traveling with a Spare-powered service.

In this report, Spare is conclusively determined to be the first company in the industry to be net zero and avoids six times more carbon emissions than it produces.
