Why I’m Joining Spare and What Comes Next

Discover why Chad Ballentine believes the time is perfect to join Spare and how our technology is poised to transform the Demand Response industry.

I’m excited to share that I’ve recently joined Spare as their Microtransit Paratransit Transformation Executive—a role that feels like a natural continuation of the work I’ve been passionate about for years. My journey with Spare began during my time at CapMetro, where we implemented Spare’s platform to modernize our transit services. The experience was transformative, and it wasn’t long before other agencies started reaching out, eager to learn how they could replicate that success.

That interest didn’t stop when I moved on to KFH Group, where I continued to consult with agencies on how to improve their paratransit and microtransit services. The gap is clear: there’s a real need for agencies to modernize, but figuring out where to start or how to move forward can be overwhelming.

Right now feels like the perfect time to join Spare. The technology they offer is exactly what the Demand Response industry has been waiting for, and I’m genuinely thrilled to be a part of it. What excites me most about joining the team is this alignment between the industry’s needs and Spare’s capabilities. It’s a chance to make a real impact, and I’m eager to contribute my skills and experience to help Spare reach its full potential.

At Spare, I’ll be working at a strategic level with the leadership team, bringing my experience in operations, ADA, and FTA compliance to the table. But more importantly, I’m here to listen, collaborate, and ensure that the solutions we provide are perfectly aligned with what each agency needs to succeed. Whether it’s through in-depth consultations, hands-on support, or translating complex tech into practical, actionable steps, my goal is to make sure we’re empowering agencies to deliver the best possible service to their riders.

I’m excited about the potential to drive real change and make transit more accessible and efficient for everyone. If you’re attending APTA Transform or our upcoming webinar on change management when modernizing paratransit, I’d love to connect and discuss how we can work together to improve transit services.

Looking forward to what’s next!
