We’re building a better tomorrow for public transit
Whether you're an engineer coding a feature to give paratransit users more flexibility in their day-to-day movements, or a designer helping public transit agencies visualize their network’s potential through beautiful mapping, the work you do will help create more equitable, accessible and sustainable public transportation systems for all.
We believe in learning by doing. Have an idea? Share it!
Each member of our team is unique and we’re all encouraged to bring different perspectives and creative solutions to the table.
We believe talented people deserve to get paid accordingly. We reward exceptional performance with bonuses and incentives.
Flexible work arrangements
Work from your couch, or ours. Our office in Vancouver has flexible seating, hotdesks, and collaborative spaces. We also offer the opportunity to work remotely. We have team members in Europe, the United States and the rest of Canada.
We support open communication between team members through bi-weekly 1:1s. We also schedule monthly performance check-ins, as well as regular all-hands meetings, so you always know where we’re going and how you’re doing.
We hold bi-weekly lunch-and-learn events. In the past we’ve tackled fascinating topics such as modern art, investing 101, diversity & inclusion, and gymnastics.
Food, so much food
Our kitchen is always stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy snacks like popcorn, and top-notch coffee from British Columbia’s Pallet Coffee Roasters. Our events almost always include dinner — ramen is an office favourite — , and we dedicate Friday mornings to Spare breakfast.
Free to be you
We celebrate everyone’s identity. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels valued, respected and understood.
Why we love working at Spare
Tanya Castle, Regional Director of Growth
The ability for people to move safely, affordably, efficiently and comfortably is vital to their health, livelihood, and well-being. No individual should be unable to get around and moving people has to be done in the most sustainable way possible. Spare shares my philosophy and works with cities to serve everyone while considering the impact of transportation on the planet.
Lars Klundby, Operations Manager
At Spare, we’re leveraging powerful technology to solve real-world problems and making transportation more efficient and accessible for communities everywhere.
Erin Girard, People & Talent Lead
I’m a people-person and we’re growing a team that is providing accessible and sustainable public transportation to people across the world.
Who wouldn’t want to do that?
“Great people. Team breakfast every Friday morning, plenty of opportunities for social interaction outside the office if desired. How could you not be inspired by the mission to make public transportation more efficient and cost-effective?”
“Positive and collaborative environment in a fast growing scale-up company. The people are awesome, and management is accessible and genuinely interested in your feedback and input.”
“The team is very fun and awesome to work with and everyone is very welcoming. Being a startup the work you do is important to the company's growth and you never feel like you're doing pointless work. The management and partners are easily accessible as everyone works closely together. Very organized and fast growing startup!”
